THE ECONOMICS MINOR

Hey clever student!  If you clicked on the econ minor link, you might be pondering how you might get some more economics into your academic diet and earn something for the effort.  Sounds clever to me.  Anyway, below you can find basic information about the minor and ways to get more information.  We economists very much want to work with good students like you—the kind that observe the world, critically question it, and insist on a logical answer.  The kind that work hard and like to think about things beyond the surface.  Try us out!

Students wishing to minor in economics select 18 hours of economics courses (6 total courses). Twelve specific hours are required, and the remaining six are electives. A total of twelve hours must be at the 300 level or above.  Specifically, the minor involves....

Twelve hours of required courses as follows:

ECN 142 Principles of Macroeconomics

ECN 143 Principles of Microeconomics

ECN 340 Macroeconomic Analysis

ECN 345 Microeconomic Analysis

Six hours of electives (two courses) from the following list:

ECN 352 Money and Banking (cross-listed as FIN 352)

ECN 454 International Economics and Finance (cross–listed as FIN 454)

ECN 475 Labor Markets and Human Resources

ECN 470 Seminar in Economics (this course is offered on an infrequent basis)
