Selected Affiliations, Awards, and Achievements
Dr. Gupta has served as the Vice-President for Publications of the Production and Operations Management Society, Regionally Elected Vice-President for the Decision Sciences Institute, Vice-President of Education for the Central Indiana Chapter of APICS, President of the Indianapolis Chapter of IIE, and President of Midwest DSI. He serves on the editorial boards of several national and international journals and currently serves as an Associate Editor of Decision Sciences
Recipient of the Outstanding Faculty and Outstanding Researcher Awards from Ball State University, Dr. Gupta was nominated (and was one of three finalists) for the award of Dean James Chair for Distinguished Teaching at the University of Baltimore. At Sangamon State University, he was voted as one of the five best faculty advisors by the students. Earlier, he received the Superior Job Performance Award at the Energy Information Administration.
Dr. has published about 200 research and technical papers in such journals as Operations Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Information Management, Mathematics of Operations Research, IIE Transactions, Naval Research Logistics, and European Journal of Operational Research. He has edited special issues of Computers and Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, and Production Planning and Control. Dr. Gupta has received several awards for his research work including the P-W Industries Award for Best Application Paper. He was inducted as Fellow of the Decision Sciences Institute, highest honor bestowed in that profession. Co-author of a textbook in Operations Research, he has co-edited a book on Neural Networks in Business and has co-authored several chapters in E-commerce, learning organizations, and knowledge management. He has lectured widely in Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, Singapore, England, Holland, Spain, Italy, Canada, and several other countries in Europe and Asia. He is often invited for seminars and colloquia by international professional and academic groups on bleeding edge topics in Information Technology and Operations Management. His most recent colloquium on Collaborative Logistics in E-Commerce and Global Business won him acclaim in Spain and was covered by several newspaper articles.
