Cathedral Caverns ~ 65 or 72 miles  Starts at the Walmart on Sutton Rd. in Hampton Cove.  It could be revised to start at the Hampton Cove ball fields, turn right out of the parking lot, and pick up the route once you cross Hwy 431 on Old Hwy 431.  Rolling hills, some are short and steep, but there are no sustained climbs. Travels some rough roads between the Cathedral Caverns and Woodville. Elk River 79  Starts at Kroger's parking lot in Madison at the corner of Hughes Rd and Huntsville-Browns Ferry Rd. This is a variation of the Elk River Ride in the club atlas. Very hilly but without anything close to a mountain.  Elk River 79  map  

Falls Mill Fly By ~ 76 miles  Starts in Maysville on Brownsboro Rd, just east of the 4-way stop.  Two "sustained hills" and lots of other hills. Falls Mill Fly-By map

Hills for 40 (miles) Starts at Hampton Cove Ballfields at the corner of Eastern Bypass and Old Hwy 431. Mostly rolling hills, with a few short, steep places. No sustained climbs. Turn-around/rest stop is at the Madison County Lake.  Hills for 40 map

Hurricane Valley 57 (miles)  Starts at the Hampton Cove Ball Fields at the corner of Eastern Bypass and Old Hwy 431.  Rolling Hills, no sustained hills. Hurricane Valley 57 (miles) map

Minor Hills -66 Starts at the corner of Hwy 99 and Salem Minor Hill Rd in Limestone County. These are Tennessee backroads with many hills. No mountains but hills up to 11%. The longest hill is about 9% and there are several short steep places up to 11%.  Everything else are minor hills  ;o)  Minor Hills -66 map

Mountain Gap and North- 38 miles  Starts at Mountain Gap School on Mountain Gap Rd in Southeast Huntsville.  Climbs 4-Mile Post/Cecil Ashburn and returns on Dug Hill Rd which has plenty of hills to hurt you especially when you are tired.

Nat Mountain 63 miles   Starts at Hampton Cove ball fields.  Climbs Nat Mountain (steep 2+ miles climb ) in Jackson County.

Salem Backroads Century ~ 97 miles  Starts at the Athens State University Library parking lot on Pryor St. in Athens, AL.  Many "sustained hills", some of them steep. Has some rough roads and rest stops seem to open & close unpredictably.  Take plenty of fluids & food.  Salem Backroads Century map  

Salem Backroads Short Cut ~ 68 miles  Starts at the corner of Hwy 99 and Salem Minor Hill Rd.  Hard to tell where the hills leave off & the climbs start. A number of steep hills and/or "sustained hills".  It maybe shorter than the century, but it is not easier.   Travels some rough roads. Salem Backroads Shortcut map    

Simpson's Point ~ 52 miles  Starts at Hampton Cove Walmart.  Climbs Simpson's Point (Grant Mtn.)

South of the River ~ 75 miles  Starts on Hwy 231S, past the Whitesburg Bridge, at the Spur gas station on the right just before Fields Rd.  Climbs Brindlee Mtn and several other "sustained hills". Travels some rough roads.

Union Hill 63 or 55 miles  Starts at the Union Hill School in Morgan Co. at the corner of Union Hill Rd and Apple Lane Rd.  The 55 mile option cuts off the last big climb and starts at the corner of Hwy 36 and Cotaco-Florette Rd, 4 miles into the route. Climbs include Nat Key which has a stretch that has been compared to the backside of Keel, Gandy's Cove which is sustained but not too steep and the last climb, which is part of the 63 mile option climbs Union Hill Rd back to the school. That climb is hard and long. And of course there are lots of other "sustained hills".  Union Hill map  

Weather Rules Ride ~ 70 miles  Starts at the Hampton Cove ball fields. Lots of rolling hills and some detours from the normal, familiar roads.  No climbs involved.
