Home Things I Like To Do Places I Have Been Hall of Fame Resume

This site was designed to help students access material for my classes and also allow me to communicate a little about some activities that are fun for me.   Please send me an email if you identify problems or have suggestions to improve the site.  In fact, I would love to hear from you if you are current or former student, friend or long-lost relative.

   Background

My teaching interests include basic marketing, marketing strategy and marketing high-technology products and services.  My research interests include marketing channel structure and behavior, marketing high-tech products, advertising strategy in developing countries, and risk management in software development.

I was born in Mississippi, but spent my early childhood in Detroit, Michigan.  Middle school and high school was spent back in Mississippi.  I completed my BS degree at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM).  Following two years in the Army, I returned to USM for an MBA.  After working at USM in Continuing Education and the athletic department, my wife, son and I moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1977 to work at UAH.  In 1986, my wife and I both enrolled in doctoral programs at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  I finished my Ph.D. in 1990 and returned to Huntsville to join the Business School faculty.

On the personal side, I have a wonderful wife of 35 years who teaches at Grissom High School and two sons.  Jason finished at Auburn with a degree in Spanish and International Trade.  He works in sales for a high tech company in Huntsville.  Jamie recently finished a degree in East Asian Studies and Chinese at Washington University in St. Louis.  He is preparing to go to graduate school.  I enjoy jogging, biking, skiing, golf and fly-fishing.  Yet, I do not excel at any of them.
