How to start WS_FTP95 LE program for the first time
- Click on the Start button on the lower left corner of the Windows XP screen.
- Select Internet Apps > WS_FTP95 LE (see picture on the right -- > )

How to Logon to your webpages server account

In the Session Properties window, (see picture below)
click on the
New button.
- Enter webpages in the Profile Name field.
- Enter webpages.uah.edu in Host Name/Address field
- Leave Automatic detect , unchanged in Host Type field
- Enter your UAH email userid, e.g., floresk, in the User ID field.
Note: Important! Make sure that Anonymous is NOT checked (click on it, if necessary, to uncheck it). Leave Save Pwd unchecked.
- Enter your UAH email password in the Password field.
- Click the OK button.
You are now in a WS_FTP LE webpages.uah.edu session and ready to copy files from your local drive to your folder on the webpages server.
How to to copy files from your local drive to your folder on the webpages server
- Note WS_FTP95 LE has two windows, Local System and Remote Site
- First, change the Local System path to the drive letter and folder on your PC that contain the file or files you want to copy/transfer to your webpages account, e.g. double click on [-c-] if your local C:\ drive contains the files you want to transfer (use the scrollbars if necessary).
Note1: You move up the directory structure on either window by double-clicking on the green up arrow, and down by double-clicking on the appropriate folder/file icon
- Change the Remote Site path to the "public_html" folder by double clicking on the
icon. Your WS_FTP LE webpages.uah.edu session should now display /web/users/username in the Remote Site window, as shown in the image below.

Note2: You may create new folders (directories) on either your Local System or Remote Site by clicking on the "MkDir" button, then enter the name you wish to give the new directory (folder) and click OK. IMPORTANT!!!! Folder names ARE case sensitive. ALSO, Folder_Names should NOT contain spaces. Use dashes or underlines instead.
- Select the file or files you want to transfer by clicking once on the file.
- Select the appropriate FTP mode (ASCII, Binary, or Auto) before copying or transferring files from the Local System to the Remote Site.

- Click on the right arrow button to transfer the file(s).
When you are done transferring files, close the WS_FTP session by clicking the Close button on the bottom left side of the session window, then close the window.
To access the files you put on your webpages server, open an Internet browser and enter the URL to your folder on the server, e.g. "http://webpages.uah.edu/~username/", replacing username with your userid.
