Feeling Lucky? Use Google to search for Weapons of Mass Destruction

The red hyperlinks on the page to the left will take you to Amazon's new A9 search engine with using related search text. On the original page the first two links forwarded your browser to Amazon.com's United Kingdom website listing for the book: Pieces of Intelligence: The Existential Poetry of Donald H.Rumsfeld by Hart Seely, the one at the bottom took you to that site's ad page for the lousy T-shirts with the two accompanying annoying popups for online gambling.

Hey Alan, hey Ted:

Want to see something really funny? Go
to: www.google.com In the search bar, enter
the string, "weapons of mass destruction"
Instead of hitting ENTER, click the "I'm
feeling lucky" button. It looks like an
error screen, but read carefully.

Jim

I, of course, did as Jim suggested and found the page seen to the left.
Why convert it into a .gif file? Two reasons:
  1. The inevitable possibility of web rot.

"Berners-Lee also made time in his address for two brief "rants." In the first, he railed against the dangers and annoyances of "Web rot" -- the phenomenon of running into "Error 404" messages when a Web address is no longer valid."

Partyka, Jeff. "W3C's Berners-Lee urges agent-readable Web sites."

  2. the actual "Feeling Lucky" search will automatically forward you to http://www.coxar.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/about.htm,
but it also opened a second browser window to Empire Poker's online website with these two aggravating pop ups.
